Colin Selig is an ecological sculptor who designs and fabricates premium bespoke benches and sculptures repurposed from salvage steel propane tanks. His bench designs include contemporary riffs on furniture from Victorian and Mid Century eras. His biomorphic sculptures abstractly reference a site’s native animal species with unique, pedestrian scaled objects that are playful, visually compelling and create a sense of place. His patented process uses a regionally sourced material, has a minimal manufacturing carbon footprint and produces very durable low maintenance objects which contain 99% post-consumer reused content. His work has been honored with national and international awards for its sustainable, innovative and technical qualities and can be found across the US in parks, streetscapes, hospitals, museums and commercial properties.
